Lab Technician

A lab technician performs diagnostic tests on patient samples, including blood, urine, and tissue. They ensure accurate analysis, maintain lab equipment, and document results. They work closely with pathologists, follow safety protocols, and assist in preparing reports for physicians to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.


  • Sample Handling and Preparation:
  1. Receiving and labeling patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.). 
  2. Preparing and processing samples for various tests. 
  3. Performing quality control checks on samples and reagents. 
  • Laboratory Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
  1. Operating and maintaining various laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and automated analyzers. 
  2. Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and reporting issues to supervisors. 
  • Testing and Analysis:
  1. Conducting routine and specialized laboratory tests according to standard protocols. 
  2. Performing manual and automated testing procedures. 
  3. Recording and verifying test results accurately. 
  4. Analyzing data and reporting results to pathologists and other healthcare professionals. 

  • Safety and Compliance:
  1. Adhering to strict safety protocols when handling hazardous materials and biological specimens. 
  2. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment. 
  3. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards. 
  • Communication and Support:
  1. Communicating with pathologists, other medical professionals, and lab staff regarding test results and other matters. 
  2. Assisting with data management and record keeping. 
  3. Collaborating with other lab personnel to ensure smooth operation of the laboratory. 
  • Other tasks
  1. Participate in quality control activities, such as running quality control samples and reviewing test results 
  2. Ensure that all tests and procedures comply with regulatory standards 
  3. Participate in audits and inspections
